If you are a morning person or a night owl I guarantee you that this smoothie will give you the sweetest smile in the morning, This chocolate smoothie is rich, creamy and decadent as if you are having a dessert for breakfast, I mean who don't want that ? RIGHT!
The best part about this smoothie is that it only takes 5 minutes in the morning if you have done some prep ahead of time like freezing your fruit and batch making granola in the weekend.
I like to top these smoothie bowls with fresh fruit or berries and some granola, here I have used my almond and cranberry granola but you can do whatever your heart desires.
I love to sprinkle these bowls with some desiccated coconut and sesame seeds in the end.
Now lets get down to business.....
WHAT THINGS TO DO AHEAD OF TIME FOR A QUICK MORNING SMOOTHIE OR A SMOOTHIE BOWL?
Freeze your fruit I like to freeze my fruit for 3 reasons:
To make my smoothies extra frothy and creamy.
I don't need to add any ice which is just water and will water down my smoothie.
with ice the smoothie will not be as filling because frozen fruit=more nutrition and substance
Make your granola or stock up on your favorite granola brand I would recommend to meal prep your favorite granola recipe in the weekend and keep it on hand or buy granola from the store so that you can top up your smoothie bowls with it like we are doing today.
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS SMOOTHIE BOWL?
Soy milk The soy milk will form the base for this recipe. you can use any brand of unsweetened soy milk that you like.
Frozen bananas I would highly recommend using bananas that you have frozen yourself.
cocoa powder Of course we want chocolate flavor so we will be using some unsweetened cocoa powder , DON'T USE HOT CHOCOLATE MIX BECAUSE IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING TO WHAT WE WANT HERE.
Almond butter You can use any nut or seed butter of choice which has a mild flavor. I like to add it here for some healthy fats and it also slows the absorption of natural sugars in our body that is present in fruits like bananas.
Maple syrup You can use any sweetener of choice but if the smoothie is sweet as it is because of the bananas you might need to skip it.
